Dinner, pet peeves and miscellaneous ramblings...

We had dinner at  El Girasol in Cordele, GA tonight and it was quite good.  My husband and I both had fajitas - he had chicken and shrimp with mushrooms added (and a chile relleno on the side) and I had shrimp.  Both were good.  Personally, I think adding mushrooms gives less sizzle to the fajitas because mushrooms have such a high water content.  I like the blackened flavor and I think if I add mushrooms it takes away from that...  maybe not, but that's what's in my mind   We also had cheese dip, guacamole and a couple beers!  Negro Modelo for hubby and Corona for me!

As soon as I pulled out my camera I felt my husband wince.  "I can't take you anywhere can I?" he said.

The fajita photo on their website is much clearer...  It's hard to focus when you're embarrassing your dinner partner

Dinner there is always nice!

My biggest pet peeve is typos!  I realized today I had a huge one on my contest page   The contest ends on March 31 and the winner's notebook will be mailed by APRIL 15!  Kinda hard to pick a winner and send them the prize two weeks before the contest ends  :X

Dinner was good but I have to say I miss food that is "Damn Good!"  We moved to Cordele, GA a few years ago and I have to admit I miss a few things.  Good grocery stores are 45 mile away and so is the closest mall   I am not specially fond of shopping at malls, but I do enjoy the restaurants that tend to congregate near one

I have a son who is 15 and knows WAY more than I ever could   My 20 year old daughter moved home for the umpteenth time and if she gets a clue this time she'll join the military and have a real job   We've begged (BEGGED) her to go to college but there is little hope of that happening.  I so really do wish she gets a clue REAL soon...

I work too much, spend too little time with my family and I love to go new places   I work in the hospitality industry but, with some luck, I can turn this blog into something profitable; however, it's not just the money.  I have wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember wanting to be something!  I enjoy it and it makes me smile.  Smiles don't come cheap this time of year (budgets) and I am happy to have this escape!

I don't have allusions of being as profitable as John Chow or ShoeMoney but I have to say I would be happy with half their income   I do look at both sites daily for tips and updates (and their monthly income updates - they give me hope!).  Ultimately, my biggest goal is more readers.  I love writing and I only hope you like reading!
